How To Book "Life Is A Cabaret"

This is our guide to the easiest way to book Life is a Cabaret, London - Paris - Berlin

HOW TO BOOK "LIFE IS A CABARET"

STEP 1 CITYNIGHTLINE PARIS-BERLIN

As the the sleeper compartments can get booked up, it's best to start by booking the CityNIghtLine and then book the Eurostar journey.

Go to either the Deutsche Bahn or Rail Europe websites (DB site: click English option - centre, top on drop down menu) and enter Paris as the departure point and Berlin as the arrival point. The CityNightLine leaves at just after 20.00, so enter a time just before that. Enter your date of travel. Enter number of passengers.

On the DB page that appears, you want the "CNL" option, with no changes, leaving from Paris Gare De L'Est.You have the options of "savings fares", with limited refunds and standard fares. Prices are for the total number of people travelling and not each individual.

Select your journeys. It's best to register before you pay, as this makes it easier to access your journey and tickets. Pay and print out your tickets.

STEP 2 LONDON TO PARIS

The best fares on Eurostar often aren't refundable, so it makes sense to book the Eurostar tickets after securing the overnight tickets.

Go to the Eurostar website and book tickets to Paris, selecting the cheapest option available and allowing enough time to catch your onward train (it's about a 10 minute walk to Paris Gare De L'Est from Gare Du Nord (the taxi is quicker, but not if you have to wait in the queue). Remember to also get the dates right when returning from Paris...

You can also book through tickets from UK destinations on the Eurostar site.

STEP 3 UK STATIONS TO LONDON ST.PANCRAS.

If you'd prefer to book your UK tickets to London separately, then visit either The Trainline or Red Spotted Hanky. Again, remember to allow enough time for your Eurostar connection.

St. Pancras is right next to King's Cross and about 10 minutes walk from Euston. It's easy to reach by tube from Waterloo and Paddington and the journey time takes around 30 minutes. Check-in for Eurostar is about 45 minutes before departure.

TIPS

The earlier you book, the cheaper the price. Tickets are available up to 92 days in advance of travel on DB and rail Europe. Eurostar tickets are available from 120 days in advance.

Deutsche Bahn offers the best option for booking City Night Line journeys for a couple of reasons. Firstly Rail Europe doesn't offer the 4 berth option. Secondly Rail Europe assumes the French child age limits, when in fact the German limits are more generous. Under 6 go free on DB and the age limit for child fares is 15 (SNCF is 4 and 12).

Rail Europe is the easier option if you'd prefer to book Eurostar to Paris and the City Night Line in one go. Book the City Night Line, add to basket, and then return to book the Eurostar journey.
